Cannonsburg – A dispute on whether to allow a Gay-Rights group to hold meetings at a northeastern Kentucky high school is dividing students, parents and residents.
Twice this year, the six-member Parent/Teacher Council at Boyd County High School has unanimously rejected requests by the Gay-Straight Alliance to meet at the school. The decisions have drawn the attention of the American Civil Liberties Union. The ACLU sent the Parent/Teacher Council a letter last month saying under Federal law, the Alliance must be allowed to use school facilities if other non-curricular groups have access.
