Glasgow Tax Return Preparer Pleads Guilty

A Barren County man is facing three years in prison for preparing false income tax returns, in a case  investigated by the Division of Criminal Investigation of the IRS.

     Prosecutors say 47 year old Greg P. Denham of Glasgow prepared false income tax returns that claimed false deductions and expenses totaling more than 450 thousand dollars. Denham, a federal tax return preparer, entered a guilty plea to charges that he aided and assisted in the preparation of false income tax returns. The plea was entered  before U.S District Judge Joseph H. McKinley, Jr. at the federal courthouse in Bowling Green.

Denham had been indicted by a federal grand jury on 35 counts, alleging he  knowingly assisted in the preparation of materially false tax returns.  The returns in question were filed from 2006 to 2009. Sentencing  has been set for February 14th, 2013 in Bowling Green.
