Governor Sends E-Mail To Local Republicans

By AP

Frankfort, KY – Local officials have heard from Governor Fletcher about why he pardoned members of his administration.
The Governor's office e-mailed a memorandum to hundreds of local officials in the state. In the memo, Fletcher justifies his decision to pardon the nine current or former administration members. They were indicted by a grand jury in Frankfort in the state hiring investigation.
Fletcher spokeswoman Carla Blanton says local leaders need to hear directly from him about why he issued the pardons Monday.
But Democrats say the document is political and shouldn't have been sent at taxpayers expense.
State Democratic Chairman Jerry Lundergan says the reasons listed by Fletcher distort the truth to criticize the attorney general's investigation. Attorney General Greg Stumbo says when he first saw the memo, he thought it came from republican headquarters.
