Louisville, Ky – Cardiac stem cell research being conducted in Louisville could change the way heart disease is treated. University of Louisville scientists have removed heart tissue from patients with heart disease, isolated cardiac stem cells, grown them, and then re-infused those cells into the patient's heart. So far, those who have received the cardiac stem cell infusion show significant improvement in heart function. Kevin Willis recently visited Louisville to meet lead researcher Dr. Roberto Bolli and two patients who have received the groundbreaking treatment.
