Groups Argue For Increased State Budget

Frankfort, KY – A collection of civic groups argued Thursday that kentucky needs to spend about $1.8 billion more a year. That's a fourth more than the current budget.
A report from the Kentucky Economic Justice Alliance says the larger amount is needed to meet education, health care, criminal justice and other social needs.
The report adds that chronic underfunding of such critical areas leaves Kentucky in a dire situation.
The alliance includes groups such as Kentucky Youth Advocates and Kentuckians For The Commonwealth and has long advocated higher taxes and high spending
