Hot Rods Owners To Buy Louisville Triple-A Team

Louisville Bats

A group led by Stuart and Jerry Katzoff, which purchased the Bowling Green Hot Rods minor league baseball team last year, has entered into an agreement to buy the Louisville Bats.

The Bats are the top farm club for the Cincinnati Reds.

The current Bats’ ownership team, including team president Gary Ulmer, is expected to remain in a partnership with the Katzoff’s company, Manhattan Capital Sports Acquisition.

Ulmer and his partners purchased the Louisville franchise in 1986.  The Bats moved into their downtown ballpark, Slugger Field, in 2000.

If the deal is approved, Manhattan Capital would own three minor league teams: Bowling Green, Louisville and Reno, Nevada.

The award-winning news team at WKU Public Radio consists of Dan Modlin, Kevin Willis, Lisa Autry, and Joe Corcoran.
