House Democrats Want Governor to Make Tax Plans Public

By AP/Dan Modlin

Frankfort, KY – Leaders of the Democratic Majority in the Kentucky
House of Representatives are calling on Governor
Fletcher to present his tax modernization plan ----
in writing and to the public. In a letter written by
legislative leaders, the House Democrats applaud
the Governor's enthusiasm for tax reform.

However, the letter states, "If you are convinced that
the plan you envision is the best for Kentuckians,
then you should have no objection to presenting it,
in writing, in an open public forum."

The Democrats were among fifteen legislators who
got a private, oral briefing on Fletcher's tax plan on
Wednesday.

A spokesman for Governor Fletcher says he's disappointed
that Speaker Richards and his colleagues "broke a
promise" to meet personally with him today.
