Officials with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet say construction work will continue through this holiday weekend on the pavement replacement project in the Louisville area. Crews will be paving the right lane of southbound I-65 between the Chestnut Street overpass and the Watterson Expressway.
The right lane closure will be in effect until 5:00am Monday.
Matt Bullock is the chief district engineer for the Department of Highways, Louisville District. He says the paving work will continue this holiday weekend, because crews are under pressure to complete the work by August.
The National Street Rod Association event and the Kentucky State Fair are coming up in August, and Bullock says the Department of Highways also wants to minimize overlap "between this project and the construction on the John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge."
Several entrance and exit ramps along southbound I-65 will be closed to traffic until Monday morning.
