Jobless Rate Increases in Kentucky

By Dan Modlin

Bowling Green, KY – The seasonally-adjusted preliminary unemployment rate in Kentucky increased to 9.7 percent in the month of September. That's an increase of two-tenths of a percent from August of this year. The government sector, which includes public administration agencies, public education, and state-owned hospitals lost 2500 jobs in September. Kentucky's jobless rate continues to run ahead of the national figure, which now stands at 9.1 percent, according to the Department of Labor.
