Jockeys Walk Out Over Insurance

Louisville, KY – Some of Kentucky's top jockey's will not ride at Churchill Downs for the rest of the fall in a dispute over health insurance for riders.
Jockey Shane Sellers was taken from the track in handcuffs and other jockeys were escorted off the proerty. Track officials say they refused to commit to future races because of the dipute.
The jockeys said they want better protection and plan to race somewhere else if their requests for better insurance aren't met.
Jockeys are currently offered $100,000 of coverage at Churchill Downs. The track offered the option of an additoinal half million dollars in coverage at the cost of between $100 and $220 a month.
