Judge Dismisses Lawsuit in Autry Case

By Dan Modlin

Bowling Green, KY – Warren Circuit Court Judge Tom Lewis has
granted a motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed
against Western Kentucky University and
five employees of the institution. The civil
suit had been filed by the estate of Melissa
Kaye Autry, who died after being burned and
assaulted in her residence hall room last May.

University officials say the person or persons
involved in the crime are solely responsible for
Ms. Autry's death. The University's motion to
dismiss was based upon Kentucky's constitution
and laws which provide that such claims may
do so under the Board of Claims Act.
