Judge Set To Rule On Senate Seat

By AP

Frankfort, KY – A judge says he'll rulke quickly on whether democrat Virginia Woodward should take a disputed seat in the state senate. Right now, republican Dana Seum Stephenson has the seat, but is under a judge's order that she can't take any official actions.
Woodward wants Franklin County Circuit Judge William Graham to order the senate to, in effect, remove Stephenson.
The more significant outcome of Graham's ruling will be that it can be appealed and lawyers for both sides want the higher courts to weigh in on the matter.
Stephenson received more votes than Woodward in unofficial balloting in the 37th district in Jefferson County. But other judges have ruled that Stephenson did not meet residency requirements and was not a qualified candidate.
