Jury Returns Verdict in Catron Killing

By AP/Dan Modlin

Somerset, KY – A jury in Pulaski County has returned a guilty verdict
for the man accused of plotting the assassination of
former Pulaski County Sheriff Sam Catron. Jurors
deliberated for 45 minutes this afternoon before
finding 57 year old Kenneth White guilty of complicity
in the murder.

White took the witness stand in his own defense
today. He told the jury he had no involvement in the
crime. However, two co-conspirators who had both
pleaded guilty to their roles in the killing testified that
White came up with the plan to murder Catron.

Prosecutors told jurors that Sheriff Catron had
established a strong reputation for fighting drug
trafficking. Catron was killed while attending a
campaign function last year.
