Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway says a former social worker has been sentenced to five years in prison for falsifying records on child abuse and neglect. A statement from Conway's office says 61-year-old Margaret Murphy of Anderson County was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty in May to nine felony counts.
Murphy falsified documents in nine cases between 2006 and 2010 to make it appear that she had investigated claims of child abuse and neglect. At least three of the cases involved allegations of sexual abuse.
Conway called Murphy's actions "unconscionable" and said the sentence imposed by the judge sends a message that such actions won't be tolerated.
