Kentucky Man A Fatality Of Hurricane Rita

By AP

Pensacola Beach, FL – A Kentucky man is one of two swimmers who died and more than a dozen others had to be rescued from rough surf kicked up by the remnants of Hurricane Rita along the Florida panhandle.
On Saturday at Miramar Beach, where the water had been closed to swimmers, Walton County sheriff's deputies pulled 52 year old Ronald Hallquist of Walton from the surf. He died at the scene. Authorities have not yet identified a man who died Sunday at Pensacola Beach.
Winesses saw the man walk out of the surf, then collapse as he turned back toward the water. Authorities say red flags were posted and ten lifeguards patrolled the 8.3 miles of Pensacola Beach warning swimmers about rip tides.
