An eastern Kentucky pharmacy owner has been sentenced to ten years in prison and his wife to a year after pleading guilty to conspiring to fill suspicious painkiller prescriptions from out-of-state clinics.
U.S. Attorney Kerry B. Harvey said in a news release that 63-year-old Charles Terry Tenhet of London and 50-year-old Melissa Tenhet also agreed to forfeit their home, more than a million dollars and six cars that were proceeds or purchased with proceeds of their activity.
The plea agreement said Charles Terry Tenhet knew the customers were potential drug traffickers and addicts and describes the customers as "visibly high, lacking physical pain symptoms and appearing destitute and unemployed."
The release said Melissa Tenhet, who worked as office manager at Community Drug in Manchester, admitted she directed employees who questioned the prescriptions to fill them.
