Kentucky Republican Party Files Complaint

By Dan Modlin

Bowling Green – The Republican Party of Kentucky has filed a complaint with
the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance, alleging campaign
finance violations by the Senate Democrat Caucus. The
complaint charges that the Senate Democrat Caucus is
illegally raising money through a website, which allows for
donations to be made payable to the "Kentucky Senate
Democratic Caucus."

John McCarthy, the Chairman of the Republican Party
of Kentucky, says the committee is not registered with
the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance. The website
in question, "Take Back the KY Senate-dot-com", features
a story about Governor Fletcher's recent judicial appointment
of the wife of Republican State Senator David Williams. The
website also contains a red-lettered link to "donate now."

Western's Public Radio contacted the Kentucky Democratic
Party regarding the story. A spokesperson for the party says
her organization will not comment on the story until they have
had a chance to obtain and study a copy of the complaint.
