Kentucky Republicans Narrow Registration Gap with Democrats

Far more Kentuckians who registered to vote this year have opted to become Republicans, though Democrats continue to have the clear majority in the state. The State Board of Elections released numbers this week showing 28,884 Kentucky residents registered as Republicans since the May primary election. That's compared to 18,926 who registered as Democrats.

Democrats still outnumber Republicans in the state 1.6 million to 1.1 million.

People who registered with "other" parties added 9,335 voters since May.

The figures show a record 3 million Kentuckians are eligible to vote on Nov. 6. Of those, 53 percent are women and 47 percent men.
