Kentucky Retailers Asked To Pull Some Energy Drinks

Frankfort – Kentucky's Alcoholic Beverage Control is encouraging retailers to stop selling certain energy drinks out of safety concerns raised by the FDA. The voluntary request relates to caffeinated alcoholic drinks, according to Peter Ervin, legal counsel for the ABC in Kentucky.

""The caffeine in conjunction with the high alcohol content has a tendency to mask the affects of the alcohol so one can become intoxicated without appreciating that or without appreciating the extent of their intoxication."

The ABC encourages retailers to pull the drinks from their shelves until the FDA can look more closely at their safety.
