Kentucky Senate Passes Fetal Homicide Bill

By AP

Frankfort, KY – The Kentucky Senate has approved legislation
that would create a crime of "fetal homicide."
The bill would legally recognize the unborn from
the time of conception.

The Kentucky Supreme Court has ruled that a
fetus is not a person under current Kentucky law.
As a result, the high court said no one who causes the
death of a fetus can be charged with homicide.

The bill, which passed by a 31 to 6 margin, is
sponsored by Senator Dick Roeding of Lakeside
Park. He points out that the legislation would
exempt legal abortions.

The measure now heads to the House.
