Kentucky Swimmer Hopes to Qualify for Finals of Olympic Breaststroke Event

Another Olympic swimmer with Kentucky connections is having a strong showing in the pool. Louisville native Clark Burckle swam the sixth-fastest time Tuesday in the preliminaries of the 200-meter breaststroke.

The 24-year-old posted a personal best of 2 minutes, 9.55 seconds.

Semifinals are Tuesday night, with the final Wednesday evening. Burckle attended St. Xavier High School in Louisville before swimming at the University of Arizona. On Sunday, former WKU swimmer Claire Donahue finished seventh in the 100-meter butterfly.
