Logan County Deputy Causes Head-On Crash

Deputy Brandon Harvey and 72 year old Darrell Boatwright of Dunmor are both hospitalized after Harvey crashed his cruiser head-on into Boatwright's car in Logan County on Monday.

State police say Deputy Harvey was traveling north on US 431 near the intersection of Peach Blossom Road. Just after the intersection, a FedEx van was stopped in the road attempting to turn into a residence. The van was stopped due to oncoming traffic.

The police report says Harvey didn't notice the van stopped ahead of him and he tried to brake to avoid crashing into the rear of the van. He steered into the southbound lane of 431 and struck Boatwright's vehicle head-on.

Boatwright was taken by helicopter to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. Deputy Harvey was transported to the Muhlenberg County Hospital.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing and being led by State Trooper Brett Coomes.
