Louisville Officer Killed In Farm Accident

By AP

Louisville, KY – A 39 year old Louisville police officer who was off-duty and working at a friend's farm has died of injuries suffered in a tractor accident.
Louisville Metro Police say Kelly Hammond, a 12 year veteran of the department, died at the scene Wednesday.
Lieutenant Steve Green says the tractor lurched forward and rolled over Hammond as he was standing between the front and rear wheels, giving instructions to a juvenile who was in the driver's seat.
Hammond was a member of the K-9 Unit and all his fellow canine officers responded to the scene but were unable to revive Hammond.
Hammond will receive a military style burial, including taps, a 21-gun salute, a single bagpiper and a flag ceremony.
