Mad Cow Disease A Worry In Kentucky

By WKYU-FM, Dan Modlin

Bowling Green, KY – An executive with the Kentucky Cattlemen's Association says state beef producers are expressing concern about a recent case of mad cow disease in Canada.
Dave Maples says beef producers are weary of proposals to open borders to Canadian trade. Maples says a 60 day public comment period will enable producers to express concerns to the U. S. Department of Agriculture and he urges them to submit their comments.
Maples says the issue will be one of the topics of discussion at this weekend's annual conference of the Association at owensboro.
Canadian officials confirmed earlier this week that an 8 year old cow had the disease, but also said the meat did not enter the food chain
