McConnell Eyes Tsunami Damage

By AP

Washington, D.C. – Senator Mitch McConnell is headed for south Asia, saying the $350 million in American aid pledged to tsunami-stricken nations may grow once the full need is assessed.
McConnell is part of a delegation of six senators who are visiting India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and possibly other nations on an eight day fact finding trip. They'll discuss emergency relief with officials in India and will examine the status of the war on terror in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
McConnell is chairman of the senate appropriations committee's foreign operations sub-committee.
