Minority Leader's Brother Appointed

By AP

Frankfort, KY – Governor Fletcher has appointed the brother of a top Republican lawmaker to lead the state's park rangers.
He's Jamestown police chief Joe Hoover, the younger brother of House Minority leader Jeff Hoover. The ex-chief will make $63,000 a year at the parks department. Currently he makes about $40,000 a year.
38 year old Joe Hoover has served for 16 years in the Jamestown police department and as chief for the past ten years.
Jeff Hoover says he gave commerce secretary Jim Host a copy of his brother's resume and told Host his brother wanted a career change. He followed up by talking to parks commissioner George Ward but he said that political influence wasn't involved in the hiring.
