Kentucky News Network

The cleanup continues after a train derailment that caused a chemical spill and mass evacuations in southwest Jefferson County.  HAZMAT crews were able to contain a leak of highly flammable butadiene several hours after eleven cars jumped the tracks Monday morning along Dixie Highway.Emergency management officials allowed residents of nearly two-dozen evacuated homes to return Monday night, but Dixie Highway is still closed.

Motorists who normally travel south on Dixie Highway (US 31W) to Hardin County should detour via I-265 east to I-65 south.  Motorists who travel north on Dixie Highway should detour via KY 313 (Joe Prather Highway) in Hardin County to I-65 north.
