New Leader for State Council on Postsecondary Education

Frankfort – A screening committee continues interviewing candidates today for the next leader of the State Council on Postsecondary Education. Council member Walter Baker says some of the ten people to be interviewed have been university presidents, while others have run state systems of higher education.

While Baker wouldn't release the names of the candidates, acting University of Louisville President and former WKU Vice-President Jim Ramsey has acknowledged he has been asked to interview. The Council has the authority to recommend to the Governor how much money each of the state's eight universities would receive each year. It also can encourage universities to make changes to boost enrollment and student retention rates.
