New Literacy Plan Unveiled in Louisville

By AP

Louisville, KY – District and business leaders in Louisville are
unveiling a sweeping new literacy plan today.
The plan is aimed at getting all of the district's
97 thousand public school students reading at
their appropriate grade levels in just four years.

The plan is backed by sixteen million dollars
in district and business commitments. District
leaders say the goal can be reached, and they
stress that the plan will have benefits which
will extend beyond a child's ability to read.

It has been estimated that more than seveteen
thousand Jefferson County public school students
cannot read at their grade levels.
