Universities and colleges in the Commonwealth conferred a total of 63,000 degrees this academic year, setting a new record. Council on Postsecondary Education President Bob King says the numbers indicate that "significant progress" is being made in meeting educational attainment goals established in the bluegrass state.
The largest one year increase appears at the Associate level, but all degree categories showed growth, based on the preliminary Degrees Report just issued by the CPE. The Kentucky Community and Technical College System conferred more than 9,500 Associate degrees in the past academic year, an increase of twenty percent from the previous year's levels.
Master's/specialists degrees were up nearly 12 percent, while Bachelor's degrees increased by four percent in the past year. The full report can be seen at http://cpe.ky.gov/prelimdegrees.htm
