Owensboro, KY – A new theological seminary is opening next month in Owensboro.
The Midwest Center For Theological Studies is being started by Heritage Baptist Church. Heritage is a Reformed Baptist church.
The new seminary will consist of a single classroom and just one faculty member. For the first semester, church leaders expect ten to fifteen students working toward a Master of Divinity degree.
The faculty member is Sam Waldron, a member of the church staff. He recently completed his doctorate at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville.
Tuition at the new seminary will be $100 per credit hour.
Church leaders say they have plans for a $5.5 million addition to the church building. Most of one floor of the addition would be devoted to the theological school.
