Next Week's Fancy Farm Missing Some Big Kentucky Political Names

It appears many of the big political names won't head to West Kentucky's Fancy Farm picnic in a little more than a week. The annual  political picnic is usually a great place for the state’s biggest political names to gather and sling mud.

Governor Steve Beshear and Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson said earlier this week they won't attend. Fancy Farm Organizers now say U.S. Senator Rand Paul won't attend.

U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell hasn'’t confirmed to speak and neither have three statewide elected Democrats: Alison Lundergan Grimes, Adam Edelen or Jack Conway.

As far presidential surrogates go, Fancy Farm organizers say the list for a Mitt Romney representative has narrowed to two choices: Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples or U.S. Senator Mike Johanns from Nebraska.

The Obama campaign has not settled on a surrogate yet, organizers say, despite the picnic occurring a week from Saturday.
