Frankfort, KY – A lawyer for acting Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert says in a motion filed in court that Attorney General Greg Stumbo's office should not be allowed to prosecute Nighbert.
Howard Mann says that's because Stumbo and his employees may be called as witnesses. Mann said in the motion filed Monday that Stumbo fired the same person that Nighbert is accused of firing for political reasons
Nighbert and eight other former or current officials of Governor Fletcher's administration have been indicted by a special Franklin County grand jury on charges of violating the state merit system.
