Non-Stop Flights To Dulles End

By AP

Louisville, KY – Louisville International Airport is losing its only non-stop flights to Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C.
Independence Air officials say the airline will stop flying out of Louisville at the end of the month. That will end three daily flights that were Louisville International's only non-stops to Dulles.
The airline has been hard hit by high fuel costs and lost $98.5 million from April to June. Officials warned last month that the airline might have to file for bankruptcy.
Dropping the Louisville flights is part of a strategy to shift toward bigger planes that use less fuel per passenger than the 50 seat jets Independence has been using to serve Louisville.
Independence typically carries about 126 passengers a day from Louisville International.
