Bowling Green, Ky – State Mining Officials say 23 year old Richard Coots, Jr. was killed about two o'clock this morning while he repaired a conveyor chain that had broken. The state says Coots had crawled under a mobile bridge that fell, pinning him underneath. Investigators are interviewing others who were working in the Letcher County mine at the time of the accident. Coots was an electrician/repairman for Owlco Energy. Kentucky officials say this is the fourth mining-related fatality in the Commonwealth in 2011.
