Olympic Gold Medalist Returns to WKU

Kevin Willis

The WKU Class of 2016 will hear from Olympic gold medalist and former Hilltopper swimmer Claire Donahue at the annual Freshman Assembly Tuesday evening.  The event will begin at 6 p.m. at Diddle Arena.   Donahue, a native of Lenoir City, Tennesee, became the first WKU Olympic athlete to ever claim a gold medal at the Summer Olympics. She swam the butterfly leg in the preliminary heats for Team USA in the 4x100 medley relay in the London Games.  Claire Donahue will also speak with WKU Public Radio later this morning.  She’ll join us in studio for a live interview at 7:50am central, 8:50am eastern time.

The award-winning news team at WKU Public Radio consists of Dan Modlin, Kevin Willis, Lisa Autry, and Joe Corcoran.
