Update at 9:30 a.m.:
One westbound lane had been reopened on the Cumberland Parkway near mile point 8 following a one-vehicle accident involving a semi truck and trailer. Crews are still on the scene removing debris from the roadway.
Motorists are advised to use caution when approaching the scene.
Here's an update on a traffic advisory affecting some drivers in the Barren County region:
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet just told us both of the westbound lanes of the Cumberland Parkway at mile marker 5 are still closed, but at least one lane is expected to reopen within an hour.
A single-vehicle accident caused the lane closures. A tractor-trailer heading towards I-65 had its trailer detach and turn over. The accident seriously injured the driver, who has been life-flighted to a hospital.
Greg Meredith with the Bowling Green office of the Department of Highways says crews are working to get the overturned trailor upright and towed away.
