The Green River Firefighters Association signed a three-year contract to host the Association's Officer School beginning in February 2015. The deal runs through 2017. The school is expected to bring nearly 1,200 attendees over a four day period to Owensboro with an anticipated $400,000 economic impact.
The school started in Owensboro in 1988 and was held at the now closed Executive Inn. It's been held in Lexington since 2009. The Owensboro Convention Center is set to open in December 2013.
