Owensboro Officials Consider Changing Mystery Festival Date

Organizers say Owensboro's International Mystery Writer's Festival will likely be held in the fall next year. The event normally takes place in June, but RiverPark Center General Manager Roxi Witt says moving it to October would allow authors to interact with schools.

"We want to take the authors into schools and let them do some workshops and school assemblies, and maybe even some productions with students," says Witt.

Earlier this year, Governor Beshear vetoed $150,000 in the state budget for the festival both next year and in 2014, but Witt says the RiverPark Center is working to obtain sponsorships.
