Owensboro, KY – A big party is set for Tuesday night in Owensboro to celebrate Owensboro Southern making it to the Little League World Series.
Behind Cole Sturgeon's one-hitter and 17 strikeouts Monday night, Owensboro Southern blanked Highland, Indiana 3-0 to win the Little League baseball Great Lakes Regional Championship.
The game was seen by a national television audience on ESPN.
It was just two years ago that Valley Sports out of Louisville won the little League World Series title.
The Owensboro team will play Davenport Northwest August 21st in a first round game at Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Davenport team edged Robbinsdale, Minnesota 5-4 for the Midwest championship.
