Physical Therapy Program at WKU Expected to Start in June of 2013
Officials at Western Kentucky University say they currently plan to open the WKU Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in about fourteen months. The program has now received state approval from the Council on Postsecondary Education.
In a news release from the University, Director Harvey Wallmann says the University must first hear from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, which is WKU’s main accrediting organization, to keep the program on track for review by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. Dr. Wallmann stresses that the institution cannot start accepting students until it receives candidacy status from CAPTE.
Wallmann says interest in the degree program “remains high”, despite the fact that its start has been delayed from the original plan to begin in the fall of this year.
