Port Oliver Recreation Area to be Dedicated
A ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony will be held tomorrow afternoon for the Port Oliver Recreation Area on Barren River Lake. Local tourism officials say the area is needed to help serve the two million visitors who come to the region each year.
Located off highway 252, Port Oliver is on the Allen County side of the Barren River Dam. The ribbon cutting and dedication mark the completion of the project, which includes a state of the art amphitheatre. Barren River Lake Park Manager Carlos Lopez says the new recreation area will help to draw more visitors to the area.
Tomorrow afternoon’s ceremony will be held at the Port Oliver amphitheatre, starting at 4:30 pm Central time. Guest speakers will include U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell and Colonel Luke Leonard of the Army Corps of Engineers.
