Power Outages Still Challenge the Region
The Public Service Commission's final power outage report for Monday estimates there are still more than 56 hundred power outages in Kentucky. In addition to outages caused by severe weather last week, heavy snowfall in some counties led to outages this morning.
State officials say the death toll from the tornadoes and severe weather has now reached 22 in the Commonwealth. The latest fatality was reported in Kenton County.
In other storm-related news, the Energy and Environment Cabinet says 31 counties that suffered damage from the tornadoes are eligible to apply for fifty thousand dollar grants to help cover the costs of collecting transporting, and disposing of solid waster generated by the damage.
