Prosecutor Seeks Death Penalty in Murder of Russell County Woman

A prosecutor in Central Kentucky will seek the death penalty for a man charged with killing a pregnant woman during her morning run in June.

Russell County Commonwealth's Attorney Matthews Leveridge filed a motion Thursday outlining aggravating circumstances in the June 14 death of 31-year-old Sarah Hart.  Christopher Allman, 28, is charged with murder, kidnapping, robbery, and tampering with physical evidence.

Police say Allman strangled Hart to death and tried to hide her body in a field near U.S. 127 in Jamestown.  Hart was about 10 weeks pregnant with her fourth child.

Russell Circuit Court Clerk Tony Kerr told the Lexington Herald-Leader that Leveridge also filed a notice to use statements Allman made to police at trial.

Allman has pleaded not guilty.
