PSC to Hold Meetings on Possible New Area Code in Kentucky

The Kentucky Public Service Commission will hold six public meetings to discuss the options and process for creating a new area code in all or part of western Kentucky. Area code 270 is projected to run out of available numbers by the first quarter of 2014.

Plans under consideration include an overlay of a second area code and a split, which would assign area code 364 to a portion of the current area code 270 territory.

The public meeting schedule:

Hopkinsville, Oct. 17

Paducah, Oct. 19

Henderson, Oct. 22

Owensboro, Oct. 24

Bowling Green, Oct. 29

Elizabethtown, Oct. 30
