A woman is dead and a man in the house in Nancy has been shot after a standoff with state police. Kentucky State Police say 44-year-old Mary Amanda Hislope of Somerset was pronounced dead at the scene west of Somerset in the Nancy community Thursday.
Police say officers saw a woman come to the door then saw a man pull her back inside and heard a possible gunshot.
Police say the man came out of the house armed and, after a short standoff, pointed his weapon at officers. He was shot once in the torso.
Police say 52 year old Timmy Hislope of Nancy was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
