School Board Declines Action After Superintendent's DUI

The LaRue County School Board has declined to take action against school superintendent Sam Sanders who's accused of driving drunk in a school vehicle.

Board chairman Michael Hornback said at a Tuesday meeting that the panel can't take any action until the case is resolved in court.

Sanders was arrested on Saturday morning. Police said he smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and failed a sobriety test. He refused to take a breath test.

Several community members attending the board meeting wanted immediate action taken against sanders. Joe Dohn said he has two children and one grandchild enrolled in LaRue County school. He said Sanders is supposed to set an example for the children.

Both Sanders and his attorney declined comment for this story.
