Separate Death Penalty Trials Ordered for Kentucky Men

By AP

AP – Separate Federal Death Penalty trials will be held
for two Kentucky jail escapees charged with the
kidnapping and murder of a woman from Galvants
Ferry, South Carolina. U-S District Judge Joe Anderson
says he would like to try Branden Basham and Chadrick
Fulks at the same time before different juries. However,
Judge Anderson says he doesn't have enough room in
his courtroom.

Fulks will be tried May tenth in the first federal death
penalty trial held in South Carolina. Basham will be tried
either immediately afterward or in the fall.

The two men are accused of kidnapping Alice Donovan
from the parking lot of a Conway, South Carolina
Wal-Mart in November of 2002.
