Fort Bragg, NC – The Sergeant charged in a grenade attack at a
U-S base in Kuwait faces the death penalty in a
summer trial. Two Army officers were killed in the
attack and 14 people were injured.
Sergeant Hasan Akbar is charged in connection
with the March 23rd, 2003 attack on 101st Airborne
Division soldiers at Camp Pennsylvania in Kuwait.
The case was transferred to Fort Bragg from Fort
Campbell, because most of the 101st has been
serving in Iraq. Fort Bragg is home to the 18th
