Slain Guidance Counselor/Dance Coach Remembered as Role Model for Youth

A candlelight vigil was held Tuesday night at Henderson County High School in honor of Michelle Cotter. She was found shot in her Henderson home early Tuesday morning and later died at Methodist Hospital. Her husband, Steven Cotter, was found inside the home with a gun and was taken into custody.

Michelle Cotter had served as co-director of the Henderson County High School Colonelettes Dance Team, and was a guidance counselor at College View Middle School in Daviess County.

The Henderson Gleaner quotes Danielle Crafton, a public information officer for the school system as saying Cotter was a "role model" for her students and members of the dance team.

An autopsy was scheduled to be performed on Cotter in Louisville last night.

WKU Public Radio contacted the Henderson Police Department Wednesday, and a Public Information Officer told us there were no new details ready to be released regarding Mrs. Cotter's death. No arrests have been made so far in the case.
